Hiding Switching Delay And

Multichannel multiradio wireless networks allow one to utilize the available spectrum more efficiently to improve network performance. When nodes operate with multiple channels, the contention among the nodes operating in a particular channel is reduced, which translates to more opportunities to transmit and consequently improved throughput. Among the architectures proposed to implement a multi...

Stabilization by switching time-delay

In this paper we consider some stabilization problems for the wave equation with switching time-delay. We prove exponential stability results for appropriate damping coefficients. The proof of the main results is based on D’Alembert formula, observability inequality and some energy estimates. More general problems, like the Petrovsky system, are also discussed.

Delay Independent Stability of Linear Switching Systems with Time Delay

We consider a switching system with time delay composed of a finite number of linear delay differential equations (DDEs). Each DDE consists of a sum of a linear ODE part and a linear DDE part. We study two particular cases: (a) all the ODE parts are stable and (b) all the ODE parts are unstable and determine conditions for delay independent stability. For case (a), we extend a standard result o...

Bacterial Wall Attachment in a Flow Reactor

A mathematical model of microbial growth for limiting nutrients in a fully three dimensional flow reactor which accounts for the colonization of the reactor wall surface by the microbes is studied analytically. It can be viewed as a model of the large intestine or of the fouling of a commercial bioreactor or pipe flow. Two steady state regimes are identified, namely, the complete washout of the...

Competition in a Chemostat with Wall Attachment

A mathematical model of microbial competition for limiting nutrient and wallattachment sites in a chemostat, formulated by Freter et al. in their study of the colonization resistance phenomena associated with the gut microflora, is mathematically analyzed. The model assumes that resident and invader bacterial strains can colonize the fluid environment of the vessel as well as its bounding surfa...
